Keep Technology Alive Activity
For this case study, you are a media technology company that has been hired by a local school district. They want you to research educational technology, and make a persuasive statement about why it should be kept in the budget to the school board!
- You should start by creating a logo for your media company.
Pixliart.com, GIMP, Paint, Photoshop, Google Drawing, or taking a snapshot of something you create in Microsoft Word are all options to help you create a logo. Don't plagiarize another company's logo. This should be an original image, not something you find online. I'll accept AI generated here if you state what you put in for your input, how you asked it to adapt, and share the changes.
Your logo needs a graphic, text, and at least 3 colors. - Next you need to research about EDUCATIONAL Technology. (Not the history of all technology).
The three research questions are:
- What is the history of Educational Technology?
- How is educational technology used to benefit teaching and learning?
- How might EdTech help students in the future?
- You are now ready to create your presentation.
Ideally, please make a video. Or a PowerPoint Presentation, with proper audio, images, transitions, and animations can earn most points. It's easy to include transitions, animations, images, and audio by using the "export as video" or "record" tab/button. - Make a Persuasive Statement about WHY the School Board should keep technology in the classroom!!
This is worth 4 points of the rubric. Be sure to dedicate time to why the school board should keep EdTech in the budget. - Make sure to include your logo, research, and persuasive statement in your video!!
- If you create a 15-30 second radio commercial for your video you will earn +5 extra credit. (Audacity or Vocaroo could be good tools to use for that).
